Also, Mud; What brand of 74 flash hider did you choose?? Action makes one that isn't too pricey and KM makes one that is pricey... I wonder what's the difference..

When I go Back home for the Christmas break I'll have access to tools again, and I'll be doing up a couple kits.

The KM one has a little foam insert to act like a silencer (that does not do much)

They are all pretty much the same. I own two 74 flash hiders.

I don't remember both brands... but the KM fits nice & looks nice.

Cushak, let me know mate :)

Mud, thanks alot buddy, I'll look into the cheapest and if it doesn't suit me I'll buy the KM one then :P

Is there a way to like open up the handguard or disassemble it or something?

As far as I know, the Yugo has a stamped steel body, not plastic :D I assume you're referring to the KA AK-74 set? It's close to what the Yugo has.

Source?

The Yugoslav M70 AKM series uses an 1.5mm thick stamped RPK style receiver.

Ey, if any of you could get me a ICS AK74 wood grip and stock, I would give you some good money for it.

Stupideye December 26th, 2007 00:32

I got this (http://cgi.ebay.com/Airsoft-AK-RPK-7...QQcmdZViewItem) and it fits on quite nicely and looks good. It was about $56 with shipping from Hong Kong.

Cassius December 26th, 2007 00:38

I ordered the G&P Wood kit with front set actually. I should be getting it soon.

Next up will be a 74 flash hider and I must have that ICS bolt Ancorp has now..

Relja December 26th, 2007 00:40

Sorry guys didnt check my writing. I meant pistol grip instead of body. For the body im using the KA metal AK74 body.

Make them from Oak. The ones I make are slightly bigger than the Tokyo Marui stock, that's done on purpose to accommodate a 9.6v big battery while still being sturdy. Next batch will have a few modifications to the stock (may make it a tad longer) to make it easier to get a large battery in there.

At this moment I don't make pistol grips, however I'm looking at away to do it.
Only problem is it's a small piece to be maneuvering around a high speed router.....

That was on the first attempt.

heh I still laugh that I came home to a PM from you about building these things and making a request, when I had done this :

Making the same part too.

Though, I'd get away from using the router, unless you make a template and plan to glue the two halves together. If you make the template, you'd be fine, but free handing it will take too much time and also lead to mistakes meaning more time and now material loss. The method I ended up with was using a drill press and 1" Forstner bit. Making two holes down a block and then using a chisel to clear out the stuff left behind. I opted for this method because it is slightly faster, in that you do not have drying time, and that the piece will be much stronger than if it had a seem right down the center. Once hollowed, it was just some chisel time to fit to receiver and shaving a lil here and lil there to get fit and then off to the belt and drum sander to shape the outside.

This one shown above was a little square at the front, due to me carving out a box inside, when really all you have to do is clear the walls and leave the round shape of the forstner, SOME shaving needs to be done at the edges pending on fit.

I stopped making them for couple reasons, one of them was I hurt myself and now I'm not allowed in the shop anymore ((fucking older brothers... you screw up ONE time... even though they've all but blown the place up already [thats eventually my job :D] ))

Really, to anyone that hasn't had a lot of time to work with wood, just shell out the god damned money and buy one. I've been working with wood since I was 5 and still hurt myself good on this one. And I'm not the only example of people who get hurt doing it, I know roughly 10 people PERSONALLY that have lost a digit to a machine they have used for decades!

Cushak December 26th, 2007 21:20

That drill press sounds like a huge time saver, thanks for the tip.

And, once I get a bunch made, people won't have to shell out too much to get a wood kit.

This works with the ICS 74? Or the 47?
