goggles over glasses

i wear glasses, are there any goggles or shooting glasses that will fit over them? i cant see well without them

medhatboy June 2nd, 2007 20:44

Not many, depends on how big your frames are, thats why I got contacts, just for airsofting on weekends.

Amazing KG3 June 2nd, 2007 20:50

be cool and dont wear glasses loser

HA HA

jk/ seriously though like 1/2 my team wera em ill ask em

RUBBERDUCKEY June 2nd, 2007 21:10

Dye paintball masks. I have one but it makes me look like a fly since the goggle is so big. :p

yanhchan June 2nd, 2007 21:17

just modify your goggles to fit them Usually its the side rubbers that need a bit of cutting. Not too much just enough to fit the frame in.

crazybagoham June 2nd, 2007 21:22

well i wear polo frames so they are a bigger type, i might just have to wear contacts, i hate putting them in lol

roughshadow June 2nd, 2007 21:52

you can get perscription balistics lenses i dont know how to but you can

Omi-san June 2nd, 2007 21:55

I have the same problem, I guess I'll just get contact lens. Normal glasses + protective glasses seems quite uncomfortable.

medhatboy June 2nd, 2007 22:11

There are some goggles that also have a perscription insert, the CF issued ballistic glasses have them if needed. One guy on our team has a set of clip in inserts for his safety glasses that also fit inside his bolles.

crazybagoham June 2nd, 2007 22:12

yeah ill go to the optomotrist, i get up to 300$ for glasses through my benefits from sears, so they might be able to make me some percription goggles for free lol

Colin_S June 2nd, 2007 23:52

I hate contacts so I have to wear glasses inside my goggles, I've used Bolle's and JT Spetra goggles without any problems. I like the latter more as I can put the glasses farther away from my face so it doesn't fog up as much.

ThunderCactus June 3rd, 2007 01:46

if your willing to spend the money on the most awesome goggles ever:
http://www.essgoggles.com/ICE---Prof...63_detail.html
the tactical advantage store on ebay sells ESS goggles, but its a 100$ minimum order

Penguin June 3rd, 2007 03:28

I wear JT's, all I did to increase comfort it so cut 2 tiny notches for the arms of my glasses to slide in to, on the sides. Fits perfectly.

THE CAT June 3rd, 2007 03:34

Like ThunderCactus say, ICE with RX insert are the best. The RX insert is also compatible with ESS Profile. Also, V12 serie is great.

LUTNIT June 3rd, 2007 10:29

I use ESS tactical, the cheaper line, and never had a problem and no cutting at all, fits over my large frame glasses. You can apply anti-fog to the lens and your glasses lenses or stick fans on the top like I did.

How much does it cost to bring the RX insert to an optometrist? Considering how they rip us off with regular lens and frames....

LUTNIT June 3rd, 2007 11:20

I've read several times that a good pair of goggles, RX inserts, and lenses in total will run you around $300.

Also I don't see how optometrists rip you off with glasses and lenses, I've worn glasses since I was 6 and checked everywhere for them and the precision that is required with grinding lenses is hard to copy cheaply. My lenses in my glasses are $90 each, $180 for a pair, but I have compressed anti-scratch, anti-glare lenses. My brother got cheapo basic lenses and it was $65 for the pair plus cheapest of the cheap $40 frames.

Anyway I've considered RX inserts many times but never found it worth it because my prescription changes from time to time. I don't really have a choice but to switch my normal day to day lenses but to have to spend the cash to switch a set of RX inserts in addition would suck. With using goggles that just go over my glasses I only have to change out one pair of lenses when my prescription changes.

you can do what im doing, get your eyes fixed.
getting my eyes LASIK'ed in the fall.
for about the price of a highly upgraded AEG, you'll never need glasses again untill you get old and need reading glasses.
going to cost me around 2k to get my eyes done. i say its well worth it considering how much i have already spent and will spend on glasses if i dont get this done.

DarkAngel June 9th, 2007 20:18

Tell me how that turns out Dynamo, I was thinking about it, but i dont have 2 large to drop on anything besides college. :/ Interested tho to hear what they do, how it went, any discomfort etc etc

Ace of Spades© June 9th, 2007 20:30

My mom had that done like 6-7 years ago, when Lasik were still in there teens. They have probably improved since them, but Laser Eye surgery is never a perfectly exact procedure. For 5 years, her eyes stayed a good 20/20, but slowly they became worse, and now see needs glasses for reading.

I'm pretty sure that they mention in the contract that the surgery will correct your vision to between like 18/20 and 20/22 area (or something like, two points off from 20/20)
