What plate carrier/rig do you use?

Not sure if this thread was already started or not but i figured id ask as im on the hunt for a new rig.

Im selling my Ciras maritime in favour of something a bit lighter and more mag capabilities. Ive had my eye on a Wasatch by HSGI but recently found a rig called the callahan/hellcat that seems to be the best of both worlds. So, on that note, post up what you use and why, pics would be great too

Thanks
Dave

I have this (in khaki) and love it! Not only is it light and easy to set up, it's made by Eagle and very nicely priced.

I also ditched a ciras for something lighter and am currently using a wasatch. I really like it. I'll take some pics when I get home

swatt13 April 11th, 2008 13:36

i love the ciras land for all the room, but now im useing an eagle pc to be a little more streamline, im thinking about getting huangs gunvest clone though

The Saint April 11th, 2008 13:38

With Wasatch and Weesatch, I really recommend trying one before buying (with mags involved). The integrated mag pouches aren't for everyone, as they play a big part on the fit of the rig.

~Ghost~ April 11th, 2008 14:00

after bieng issued the current CF tac vest i discoverd one thing i hate vests that arent modular, that said for airsoft i bought a ciras and fell in love with it i have the abbility to put what i want where i want it!!

Wasatch in OD.

The Saint April 11th, 2008 14:37

Weesatch, actually. Pantac/Phantom copied the Weesatch and mislabelled it as the Wasatch.

Ghillie973 April 11th, 2008 14:43

I got a HSGI Wasatch. It's a nice rig if you wearing it over armour. If you use it by itself, buy some replica plates or you'll find it a little sloppy.

bruce April 11th, 2008 14:45

Get the Tomcat version of the Callahan. Very nice kit.

I'm using the Eagle RRS-V Rhodesian Recon vest right now. I kind of like to wear or follow what the real SOF uses.

Vince April 11th, 2008 15:11

-Point Blank EOTV in CB
-British Army Osprey MK2
-SAAV M83 Assault vest (the issued not the chinese crap)
-Arktis 40Commando chestrig
-Australian army DPCU belt kit

On really really hot day where shades can't be found I really like webbing and smaller rigs like Arktis whereas big bulky vest will only get me heat stroke.

Blackwater B.A.S.

Tankdude April 11th, 2008 16:56

Cheap little china made rig. Holds 8 M14 mags and a radio and I clip a dump pouch on the side.

I hold another 5 mags in my pants and switch out when I get a chance.

Simple and it works, less then 60$ spent.

Donster April 11th, 2008 16:59

Eagle Multicam Platecarrier with wrap-around Cumberbund... Envy me:D

swatt13 April 11th, 2008 17:19

Goodl2ussian April 11th, 2008 17:21

everyone and their grandmother has a CIRAS

Wasatch all the way =) And yes either wear it over armour or buy fake plates makes it much comfier and nto as sloppy.

PaCHeKo! April 11th, 2008 18:11

Quoted for truth, I wore an IBA with groin/neck/throat and kevlar inside everything, it was a 24hrs game, at night I was very comfy looking other almost freezing, then in the day I wanted to die... Thankfully I had my FLC in teh car :D

rideout April 11th, 2008 19:33

ACU OTV outer plate carrier, waterloo region police E.R.T. carrier and a black hawk plate carrier.

Mr. G36! April 11th, 2008 20:17

I wear one of those Parklands CADPAT Paintball vests that A&A carries. It's been heavily modified though...like, REALLY heavily modified to better suit it's new life as an Airsoft vest. Currently carries four G36 Magazines, 2000 round BB bottle, 470 round Speed Loader, 2500 round G36 C-Mag, Small First-Aid pack, spare Battery, Discharger, and there's still plenty of space to stick more pouches. Just need to have Velcro hooks on the back and it'll stay nice and tight.

I wouldn't recommend one of these though. Such a pain in the ass to get up to par with other rigs. If you're willing though, mine turned out awesome. Just takes some time and effort.

max.power April 11th, 2008 20:39

eHobby Chest Rig. 8 M4 Mags, battery pouch, and a spare pouch for bbs, etc. Internal pouch carries my motorola and map. $30 plus shipping. Very simple and works wonders.

After dealing with the CF issue tac vest and switching to a CP Chest Rig for real life, I'd never wear a vest again.

Chest rigs FTW!

-TT Multi-Purpose Pouch
-TT Zipper Utility Pouch X2
-HSGI Grenade Pouch X2
-HSGI Pistol Mag Pouch X2 (not pictured)
-Camelbak MULE on the back

I don't have my replica plates in the vest because I have training plates in my frag vest. It fits nice and snug over the soft armour and plates.

S.H.I.E.L.D. April 11th, 2008 22:24

I love my CIRAS Maritime Version in Multicam. It's hefty but having done Vietnam airsofting the last 3 years and wearing an era frag vest around on hot stinking days the CIRAS feels just fine. I like it's modular design, adjusting is a pain but once you get used to doing it and what sizes you need (Trust me mark the straps inside with a sharpie) it's a breeze, and it just looks nice.

udk April 11th, 2008 22:45

For those that have the wasatch vests, what size of plates fit?
More specifically,
Medium : http://cgi.ebay.com/SAPI-REPLIC-plat...QQcmdZViewItem

Or large: http://cgi.ebay.com/SAPI-REPLICA-pla...742.m153.l1262

Ghillie973 April 11th, 2008 22:57

I have the large ones and they fit in the wasatch nice and snug.

Lerch April 11th, 2008 23:34

Currently running with;
-British S95 PLCE Webbing (full load and 40mm panel)
-NZ 2000 Minimi Vest

Thinking about getting another Osprey like I used to have, but only if I can get one or two UBACS to go along with it.

for me, it was the only one in north america that i coudl find in stock out of all the online stores.

Capt. Tyco April 12th, 2008 00:40

Wastach all the way. I like the movement it allows for unlike the CIRAS.

Pip April 13th, 2008 16:41

Running an HSGI Weesatch....fits nicely if you have plates in, but going prone is a bit of a bugger....also the lack of real estate on the sides kind of bugs me. But overall its a nice rig, light and to the point..no fluff. Good if you are always on your feet and like to move around.

Might switch over to a CIRAS towards the end of the month just for something different though, i like things nice and snug...

Nervikaire April 13th, 2008 17:40

I have been using a Paraclete HPC with cummerbund since last summer. Lightweight, not bulky at all and well... It's a solid piece of kit. Not as ''fashion'' as most players use, but it works wonders for me and that's the most important. I'm also going to try using it in conjonction with a combat belt this season, in order to be able to get as lightweight as possible if need be.

10-4 on that one frenchy lol. at ks2.5 i had my ibh and it was an oven lol, but a night it was great, i just turtled inside it and was good to go lol. i used my cras at ks3 and it was fine, but more bulk than i wanted compared to my ibh, so this year i got an eagle pc, but really its just a small order ciras. dunno cant find anything that i like, i might try a wasatch next, or the gunvest clone.

JoeyJackhammer April 13th, 2008 18:51

Fantom Wasatch here (OD) lots of room and very comfy.

Sergeantmajor April 13th, 2008 19:10

this might sound stupid,

but does anyone use the old ALICE and pretty much any sort of webbing?

Vince April 13th, 2008 19:21

Me and Lerch, that's about it I guess :D

Brakoo April 13th, 2008 23:02

As far as chest rigs go I'm using a tan HSGI Warlord V4 and the SKD Tac Eagle universal chest rig in OD. My bigger rig is an Eagle land Ciras in CB.... go me !

I still use the stuff from time to time especially when its really hot out or i know that i am going to be doing alot of running. Its a good kit to have.

Non Credo April 14th, 2008 03:17

I havent worn a whole "rig" in months. Ive been playing with just a belt and thigh rigs.. Less hot, more agile. So belt rigs, ftw.

Brit ter April 14th, 2008 07:56
