Airsoft Innovations Impact Grenade - Leaking

I just got the AI impact grenade today from airsoftdepot and I made sure to put a couple drops of AI grenade oil into it. Went over the manual and several youtube videos on how to operate it properly still it's not accepting gas whenever I try to load it. At first I thought it was a seating problem but I don't think that's the case as it leaks straight back out of the fill valve entirely. Can anyone help me here?

Thar be voodoo needed in there! Sacrifice a goat or something... I think it's in the fine print... Must kill goat for boom or something to that effect.

I've wanted to get one for a while but the assembly scares me!
Good luck!!

Why type of adapter are you using. If it's metal - it won't work! You need an AI propane adapter or something similar in plastic. There's no o-ring in the valve seat so when you use a metal adapter, the majority of the gas you try to put in, leaks by the fill valve.

Simple solution: Get an AI propane adapter.

Not - so - simple solution: Make an o-ring that can be used with a metal propane adapter.

Also, is it leaking out after you are done filling? Like you said out the fill valve - but after you've taken the adapter off the fill valve?

I use a metal adapter and it works fine.

I am using a plastic ai propane adapter and yes it leaks right back out of the fill valve As soon as I remove the adapter. It's very annoying as it's right out of the box unused. :(

Messaged AI and they said they'd send me a new fill valve but I need this running for Rhino...I'm trying to see I can get an exchange from airsoftdepot instead.

try snugging up the fill valve and see if that helps. better yet, remove the fill valve and give it a quick silly oil bath, then reinstall.

Thanks coachster I'll give that a shot later tonight.

don't over tighten it though

You can try to take out the fill valve out of the grenade as suggested, and tighten the bottom cap of the fill valve assembly, sometimes they do arrive loose and become loose after use.

If you take the fill valve assembly apart you will have 3 main parts; the end cap, a spring, and the inlet valve. This little valve will have a tiny o-ring, make sure that o-ring is undamaged and silicone it too. When you put it back together use a small drop of blue loctite on the threads of the end cap before you screw it back together and the fill valve assembly will never come apart again. And as coachster says do not over tighten, snug is fine for the assembly.

Tried all those suggestions unfortunately it still doesn't work. I'm just going to exchange it with airsoft depot and hope that the same one they give me next time isn't a POS out of the box. Thanks for the help regardless.

I recently got a AI Impact grenade as well. After two uses, it shows the same symptoms as you posted Tygr. I took apart the grenade, the inside white plastic piece (not sure what it is called) has a rubber ring around it, it has shifted and was not align with the white plastic piece. I aligned it and lube the ring, put it back together and works again.

Tried that as well still doesn't f****** work. Either the new fill valve that AI will give me will work or I'm going to exchange this. Need this for Rhino bloody waste of $100..

Mine was shit out of the box too but somehow it got better with age. It took me a few times to get it to fill but after it did I haven't had any issues since. Perhaps it was all the silly oil soaking into the seals.

As for maintenance I oil the seals directly and spread it around with my finger to assure full coverage as opposed to drops through the base.

You've got some bad luck with gas weapons man I hope it doesn't last.

tygr701 July 5th, 2011 23:14

How many times Kozzie? I've honestly tried to fill this like 10 times at various times today and I'm getting nauseous from all the propane put back in the air. Yeah lol i do have bad luck with gas weapons and people sending me ones that are complete crap. First my KJW mags but the gasket maker did the trick but I can't use that on my grenade. :/
