LCT AK-74 NV Flash Hider --- the thread!
 

Mission: I want to remove the flash hider from my LCT AK-74 to replace it with a totally awesome new 14mm CCW flash hider.

Problem: HOW THE FRICK DO YOU DO IT?!

Things I already know: The flash hider spins off counter clock wise to reveal the smaller 14mm thread base holding it on.

After two fruitless hours of searching I have come up with the following:

1) Apparently nobody has a the full size NV, just the AK74U, because there's lots on how to do that one. Oh, and I'd like to not break it like the one US guy suggested. Oh, and apparently LCT does things different.

2) I must defer to superior experience.

3) HELP MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! I BEG OF YOU! I JUST WANT TO KNOW HOW TO DO IT OMG! SPOON FEED ME WAHHH WAHHH WAHHH

4) Technical illustrations provided.

Have you tried pushing "post keeping thing from spinning" back and turning flash hider? It should come off fairly easy. Hex screw is probably what's holding whole front sight block attached to barrel. On every AK I own front sight is being held by that one hex screw.

Post or pin has a spring pushing it forward. I used a very small flat head screwdriver to push the pin back. Then I turn the flash hider, you may need a bigger screwdriver inserted on the side holes of flash hider to get a better twist if its to tight to turn by hand.

Thank you, gentlemen. That was the way.

Used, exactly, a very small flat head (from eyeglass repair kit) to press post in. Had to turn flash hider a full turn, then repress post, repeat a couple times until the threading was loose enough to allow it to spin freely. Once this was done, it came off easily, because that single grub screw holding the larger thread base was not installed correctly at factory. So spun it off. Ta-da!

Obviously, that single spring is housed inside the front sight. There is nothing holding it in.

this is exactly how it is on my LCT AKMSU, but even with the grub screw removed I can't get it to turn for nothing
