Why 2 Scopes for M4?

Hey guys, when i go airsofting, i sometimes see some people using their M4s with 2 scopes. I was just wondering, why do people use 2 scopes, and what kind of scopes are they??

what do you mean 2 scopes? like one in front of the other or one on top of the other? if they are in front of each other, it may be a way of simulate a night vision scope coupled with and aimpoint or such. or a way of magnifying a aimpoint or other red dot sight.

could he mean something like this?

Or like this:

As for why I did that? Mostly it was for looks. The "scope" in the back is supposed to be a PVS-14 Night Vision monocular. In reality it is a 4x scope. The scope on the front is your typical replica Aimpoint ML2.

Using a 4x scope and aimpoint together does work, it just requires some getting used to. What happens is that when looking through the 4x scope, 2 dots will actually appear, depending on where your focus is. You just have to know which dot to focus on. Same goes with the crosshairs. Aiming with the crosshairs is quite useless, as airsoft guns don't have the range, nor accuracy to really use the magnified scopes effectively. However, it is an invaluable tool for spotting purposes. It helps you make sure that black spot is a tree stump and not a player waiting in ambush.

Man that Acog/RDS is freaking hot sex! If only I could afford the real steel setup...

I'm not sure if will work with an airsoft replica scope, but some people like to use an Eotech in front of an Acog. The reticles line up perfectly...

That's seriously wrong...

Hey Travis, in that pic -isn't the front scope on backwards? It looks like it, based on the eyecup of the front scope...

I've done this before and it works well for sitautions where a non-illuminated scope reticle is used in low light conditions but a magnified view is still required.

Travis December 19th, 2005 15:25

yah. its backwards. Ive never tried this so I dont know the advantage of it.

Nevermind the scopes, the guys hand on the foregrip looks incredibally awkward. 8-O

(Edit: Plus for all the good his scopes and position do, hes not gunna hit much without some ammo.)

Could that pic have been photoshopped?

Or could it have been a joke? Cause it looks like the muzzle is blocked because of the mounting.
