M4 mag troubles

1 Attachment(s)
Some of my M4 mags nolonger feed unless I hold them up in the magwell, there is a little up and down movement. I think that the top of the rectangular hole in the side is worn down, what should I do to make the mag sit nice and tight again?

Would it be the mag catch?. See if the little screw in your mag release is tight. But if its not that I have no clue.

If you have more then one mag, try another in it. Or borrow one to try. If the problem persists you can figure its something lose in the mag well of your gun.

Take a flat-blade screwdriver and bend the green line area a little bit. Not too much so that it won't fit in the magwell, but just a hair.

If that doesn't help, try out a different mag catch. You may have to order one though with no guarantees that it will work any better than the one you have.

It only happens with my 2 oldest mags, all my other ones are fine right now.

It happened to me when I installed a one piece hopup. None of my mags would feed usless I'm holding it up. So i cut up some pieces of pop can and glued it in place...all 13 star mags. If you only have 2 duds, it shouldn't take too long.

Where did you glue said pop can?

what kind of glue etc too :)

I just used some Plumber's Gloop, because I had a big tube and it was just sitting around. First I push the mag all the way in, put a mark on the mag parallel to the mag wall, and then another mark where it norally sits. This way I know how much I need to shim each mag. I cut out thin strips of pop can with metal shears, folded it up until it's the pre-determined thickness, and glued the sucker on. Actually, a few of them were shimmed with cut off finishing nails. NO glue needed. Just cut it the right leghten and I just wedged it in place.

I like the finishing nails trick..:)
