500fps final outline (I hope)

I recently posted a topic asking you guys for advice on what I should do for my 500 fps set-up and I have it pretty much all worked out. Let me know what you guys think of it. Keep in mind that this is for my G&G M16. Hopefully this is my final list.

-7mm reinforced systema gearbox(it was either that or G&P)
-Custom MOSFET
-7mm G&P bushings
-Deep fire full teeth titanium piston
-Prometheus triple torque gears (many people were saying that max torque was over kill)
-Magnum motor
-My stock G&G spring guide (I thought I heard people say that G&G has a metal spring guide in them, stock)
-systema polycarb piston head with bearing (one person said the bearing isnt necessary and also just adds more un-needed weight. Is this true?)

I figured that the angel silent piston head was more for speed and that also many people excluding ILLusion and few other people state that this piston wouldn't last due to the fact that it is made for speed and would end up breaking at 500fps sooner or later.

Will this set-up last in your guys' opinions? Please post anything at all that could help. Thanks again and I'm sorry if this is repetitive, but I'm dealing with different parts. BTW I'm sorry ILLusion but the drop in systema gearbox just didn't feel right to me. I'd rather build a custom box and have it be more reliable. If you are going to recommend a gearbox please don't let it be a pro-win, I'm sorta eliminating that from my list of options. Lastly, does anyone have any suggestions on how to compress a 500fps spring into a gearbox? lol, thats gunna be ridiculous!!

No where will let you play with this.... And a spring might help..... Chances are the mechbox will break after the first mag causing catostofic(lol i suck at spelling) Failure. And you will be out about a grand and 500. GET A SYSTEMA!!! systemas you buy a 120 dollar cylinder set and boom, your shooting 500 fps and max torque would be a definite must for something shooting that hard and you would also want a systema High torque motor

How does that work exactly? Parts you tinker with are going to be more reliable than a professionally built mechbox? Unhunh.....

must be some sort of a joke.
get a drop in mechbox!
listen to illusion.

You were told, many times, that this was a very bad idea for a lot of reasons. Many are legal, most are common-sense or monetary.

Up to you.

PS, would you mind taking 30 seconds to update your profile?

yanhchan November 14th, 2007 06:56

You know what, if your heart is set out to do something and its not passing the legal limits. Go for it, but be respectful of field rules and be prepared to have to swap out your spring for a weaker one before games.

WHere are you going to play when you've got it completed? And.. Who is the first SOB to smack you around after you've shot him/her with the damn thing?

Ummm...the law...after he's popped someone with 500+fps.

I live in California and there are many places taht if on semi, this is perfectly fine fps. I know what your thinking "OMG 500fps is nuts!(which it is), nobody will allow him to play." But actually on semi, many places around here will permit me to play. Especially my friends house which I play at over 3 times a month.

May I be the first in this thread? *Ahem*.

Good man!

Actually, 500+fps guns aren't that hard to use at places, but largely it's only allowed for bolt action rifles. Been a couple games I've attended this year that allowed up to 550fps rifle, but had minimum engagement rules (which were less than what I adhere to myself). As for me, I've been using a 515fps M24 at every game for the past two years, so it's not unheard of at all, nor do people whine and complain about it. But that's just me of course. ;)

Oh ya,

SPLUGE!

Styrak November 14th, 2007 10:09

Man, playing in your friend's back yard is the COOLEST.
Do you have a clear plastic gun from CanTire too? Sweet! They fire like 500 FPS anyway, I don't see why people need to upgrade.

dodger_me November 14th, 2007 10:28

lol....I noticed that too

And this is precisely WHY you were told to take less time than it would take you to post and update your user profile with your location. At the very least your Country?

Our LAWS are not the same as yours, and our answers will reflect that. Save yourself some flaming and change your profile.

You were told about the mechanical problems and costs, what you do now is your business.

At the risk of sounding like a complete ass, I'm going to be totally honest with you:

If you need our help selecting the right parts to go into your gun - and don't even know what's in the gun to start with - you don't have any business opening up your mechbox.

Seriously.

It's a recipie for disaster.

You're talking about $300 in highly upgraded parts with very tight tolerances. if any one little thing is reassembled out of spec, you're going to have gun that's as good as a paperweight, and need a few hundred bucks more to repair it.

Illusion gave you the best advice - due to your lack of experience, get a professionally pre-built mechbox. It's been assembled in Japan with very high quality control. I would bet my next paycheque that a Systema-built mechbox will outlast a similar one that you can build.
