KSC Glock 150% hammer spring install problems...
 

Okay. ARGGGGG. I've done this before on a friends G18c and I'm doing it now on my KSC G17. All is well, install was alright, had to remember the parts and took about a half hour trying to find a tiny spring that popped, but that's not the hard part.

Everything seems to work great when the hammer is not cocked. As soon as it's cocked fully the part #265 doesn't slide as easily or click to release the hammer safety sear (part#267). But that's not the big problem. When the trigger bar hits the sear for the hammer (main sear part #266) it moves back freely. The hammer does not spring foreward. It just sits there. If I simulate part #81 moving up the hammer will move only when I apply a bit of pressure. It seems that the spring while it is compressed is pressing extremely tight on the rest of the parts held on by the retaining pin (#76). All parts move freely when not cocked. Now I guess my question is, since I have a guarder spring (and I just finished putting in one of their threaded barrels which took lots of modding), could the spring just be too big for the gun? It says it is made for the 17/18c... That's the only explaination that I can find right now, as everything is installed correctly. Or at least I hope. Maybe I overlooked something?

Anyone? I swapped the trigger spring with the origional and it seems to work. I think the guarder spring is too thick. Need another. Damnit. Unless there is something I'm overlooking?

G18 uses a lot of different parts (and part numbers) than the G17/19 does. Get the right diagram and edit your initial post, it's too confusing, more so since the parts you reference aren't in the G17/19.

My appologies, it was the other way around. G17 I've done and G18 is what I'm doing now. I have a spare G18c, and I can see it works right, but it's just so damn frustrating. I know it's together right but the hammer won't slam foreward.

I have the same problem with a client's glock with a guarder hammer spring. Ive been in communication with Stalker and we both seem to agree that the hammer spring is most likely the culprit. I will be replacing my client's Hammer spring with a stock spring and ill get back to you with the results.

Yeah I just replaced it and what do you know.... I think it's the spring. I ordered a new spring from Den (can't remember brand but it starts with an H, and it's not hurricane). Looks like there is less coils so it is probably a bit thinner. Stupid thing cost $10 though. Ah well. When that get's in I'll update the progress here, unless you find something DarkAngel.

That's 0 for 2 for guarder for me. (crappy metal threaded barrel is the first). So if I can help it I'm staying away from them for a bit.

I found the stock spring looked thinner and less coils too, but the biggest culprit I noticed when installing one in a G18C is the end of the spring, that sits on the hammer, is a bit too long, forcing the spring to the left and buggering things up. Had better luck after I shaved a couple millimeters off the end of the spring.

Yeah I tried that too and it was still not enough.

Okay so I have an update.

Got the new spring. It was the guarder spring that was the problem. Now the hammer is having a bit of difficulty going down. I am going to try one more fix. Tonight or tomorrow. The problem is when the slide moves back it's a tough push. I'll explain it more when I have time. :)
