Well that fix, cutting 3mm off, was posted last year when about 3 people were having problems with the shitty design of the WE 1911 and I tried it, cut 3mm off the end of the orignal guide and it still destroyed the slide. Now I could try to invest in a FLGR or something, but I really don't think thats a good investment since the price of all the repairs has been more than a new (and better) gun would have been and the fact that even that might not even work. Now I don't know what you are refering to as "older" but every WE 1911 I have seen has the same length guide which leads me to believe, in conjunction with the above, that that isn't what the problem is, at least in the case of my gun.
