There's no reasons a 7.4V Lipo would create issues
7.4V being lower than 9.6V, your ROF should decrease anyways.
Just be aware that you should at least have a "Lipo Alarm" to prevent over discharge/over-draw on your batt and that you'll also need a charger specifically made for Lipo (doesn't mean it must charge only Lipo, but at least Lipo)
