the catch doesnt show any wear by the look, just some scraped off color, no dent or cavity that i could identify. also it is steel. the mags however seem to be of some type softer metal.
i will try to take some pictures by the start of the new week. hopefully i could test with some new mags to get more clarity to the issue.
