After handling Apoc and Quantis' CA249's in Ottawa there is no other LMG I'd even go close to if I where going that route. You could use the mechbox to smash a v2 and a v3 to pieces, put it back in the gun, and its still 100%
Version 2 mechbox in a LMG, I'm not touching that with a ten foot pole. One word description for the CA249 mechbox is "brick"
STAR copied the CA design as far as I know but used polycarb instead of metal. There are aftermarket metal ones available though polycarb is apperantly stronger than the potmetal used in TM mechboxes, too lazy to check my textbook for the exact values. I had a STAR one and its CA or bust for me now, the damn thing was as heavy as a FMU GBB, it felt like a toy.
