Question TM AK47 Mods... What a learning experience. PART #1

There will be a second post to this too follow and the cost of all the changes I made and what I feel was a waste of time and money in some cases, will be discussed.

PART 1

Hey guys, just thought I'd throw this post down and see what kind of feedback it got. Thought I would share a photo as well of my modified (maybe bastardized??) TM AK47.

First off. I bought this gun in July after shooting my buddies MP5 a bit and instantly going nuts over airsoft. I used to play paintball.. hadn't done it in years though and when I was introduced to airsoft I was like.. "Dude, this kicks ass!" Hell of a way to kill spare time too while in Pickle Lake ONT on days off from being a pilot up here.

SO... anyway. Purchased the gun from A&A for $631.00 after expedited shipping (Never will I ship expedited again, not much of a difference for twice the cost.)

Being the type of person I am I had to upgrade this gun even though I had NO RIGHT what-so-ever opening up my first AEG without any knowledge of the internal workings. The next couple of weeks would bring many headaches and one hell of an education in everything AEG. Luckily for me though.. nothing exploded. The first time anyway.

I swapped out many of the original TM parts with parts such as reinforced gears (I also have a set of INFINITE Torque up gears but I don't have the right piston for the job at this time, current piston is a Deep Fire titanium piston.) Gaurder cylinder set, bushings, shims. A prometheus tight bore barrel soon followed as well as a PDI 170 spring (which I now realize may be overkill.) I currently have a SP 120 in there that my friend let me borrow after I realized the 170 was too much for a 15 amp fuse to handle. With that said I now have 20A fuses which work like a dream which I may replace with 30A if and when I put in the 170. To help the ROF stay reasonable I have upgraded the motor with a SYSTEMA MAGNUM 1000 motor and prometheus gold connectors. All this is being powered with a modified 9.6V 4200MaH battery after some modifications were done.

That takes care of internals... I think. External.. well. I didn't mind the look of the gun as it came to me in stock form... However, I found myself wanting something more tactical looking. I know, I know... it's an AK47, how tactical does that realistically get? Well I replaced the NOT so good looking ABS plastic wood butt stock, grip, and guard with OD Green parts. The butt stock is much larger internally swallowing a large type battery with ease and thankfully no more cutting stuff off inside. The grip is tactical and has a kick ass feeling in the hands. The hand guard is railed and allowed for the addition of a King Arms vert grip. I also purchased a Red Dot ACOG scope (mainly for looks as I have yet to look through it really to shoot someone.) On the bottom is a G&P Tactical Flashlight/Laser with pressure switch mounted on the vert grip when I have it hooked up.

Forgive the dangling pressure switch as the vert grip isn't on it.

Anywho... What do you guys think of it? Curious to see what the response will be to an AK47 that is far from a typical or even realistic type of AK.

Cheers.
