Make them from Oak. The ones I make are slightly bigger than the Tokyo Marui stock, that's done on purpose to accommodate a 9.6v big battery while still being sturdy. Next batch will have a few modifications to the stock (may make it a tad longer) to make it easier to get a large battery in there.
At this moment I don't make pistol grips, however I'm looking at away to do it.
Only problem is it's a small piece to be maneuvering around a high speed router.....

heh I still laugh that I came home to a PM from you about building these things and making a request, when I had done this :

Though, I'd get away from using the router, unless you make a template and plan to glue the two halves together. If you make the template, you'd be fine, but free handing it will take too much time and also lead to mistakes meaning more time and now material loss. The method I ended up with was using a drill press and 1" Forstner bit. Making two holes down a block and then using a chisel to clear out the stuff left behind. I opted for this method because it is slightly faster, in that you do not have drying time, and that the piece will be much stronger than if it had a seem right down the center. Once hollowed, it was just some chisel time to fit to receiver and shaving a lil here and lil there to get fit and then off to the belt and drum sander to shape the outside.
This one shown above was a little square at the front, due to me carving out a box inside, when really all you have to do is clear the walls and leave the round shape of the forstner, SOME shaving needs to be done at the edges pending on fit.
I stopped making them for couple reasons, one of them was I hurt myself and now I'm not allowed in the shop anymore ((fucking older brothers... you screw up ONE time... even though they've all but blown the place up already [thats eventually my job

Really, to anyone that hasn't had a lot of time to work with wood, just shell out the god damned money and buy one. I've been working with wood since I was 5 and still hurt myself good on this one. And I'm not the only example of people who get hurt doing it, I know roughly 10 people PERSONALLY that have lost a digit to a machine they have used for decades!
